Good news, Duck Dollas fans: Shooting on the new story, "Werewolf in a Proctologist's Skin" wrapped up Saturday. It should only be a short time until the program is available.

Duck uses the ancient art of hypnosis to learn what happened to him in Transylvania.

Welcome to the weekend! Of course, I have to work, today. But hey! It's still the weekend! Speaking of working, the holiday reset nightmare is almost over. I had some extra help with it, yesterday, which was very cool. Thank you.

When I got home, the wife had a Cherry Wheat Samuel Adams, for me. It was really good. You should try one.

Here is a movie I shot in the year 2000, but did not finish until 2004. It's presented on YouTube in three parts, due to the ten minute time limit, so don't forget to watch the WHOLE THING.

Meanwhile, I'll be digging in on post the last new Duck Dollas of the year (Werewolf in a Proctologist's Skin) as well as the Shut-Ups' music video for "Gotta Get Rid of Myself" from their latest album, Imaginary Dancer.

The (First) All-Nighter

Nineteen out of twenty-four hours, no sleep. That's how long I worked yesterday. Seriously, I've never seen more product flooding into these stores in seven years... Except for my brave and bold peers who are running the close-out stores. You'd think, when you close a store down, that all they do is liquidate the existing product. However, they're liquidating everything that is overstock from everywhere. Genius! Exhausting, but genius.

So my shifts were from 9am to 6:30pm on Monday, then back in at 9:30pm through 6:37am this morning. I walked in the house around ten after seven and collapsed. Oddly, I feel more rested than I usually do working my normal 9-10 hour day.

The good news is, I got a lot done. The bad news is, I couldn't get all of it done, and more showed up, today. So no pics, no cartoons, no video clips... Just glad to be done.

Back in the Saddle

What better way to get back to regular posts than by using a saying that burns at Douche Factor 10. I'm back in the saddle! Yeah! Woo! The Duck Dollas werewolf shoot with the Shut-Ups went well.

We actually went over schedule by one hour and didn't get to take the band and the crew out to dinner. We took a rain check, instead. Don was a champ, being the last fellow standing.

Everyone hoped the episode would be ready by Halloween, however, I had not actually planned it as a Halloween special. There is too much work to do on it. We don't even have it all shot.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch, the day job is whipping our asses with an 800 piece reprice, a 500 piece DVD transfer to a close-out store, a 74 page Holiday reset guide, no labor to do it with and training for the new seasonal employees (no labor for that, either). Sometimes... Aw hell, never mind. Not going to let ANY OF IT piss me off, this year. Not one bit.

My Duck Dollas render is done... Better get cracking. I'm also helping Don Condescending with some Japanese DV tapes from the Shut-Ups' tour of Japan last December.

For those of you in the know, the Kavarna is located in Oakhurst, at 707 East Lake Drive, Decatur GA, which is just down the street from where Kim and I first lived, at 240 East Lake Drive. The old 240 house was built in 1919, and is not only where we were married, it is also the location where the first four episodes of Duck Dollas were shot. Don't bother the current tenants, please. That would make you weird.

Anyhow, show up at the Kavarna and buy CD's from the Shut-Ups.

This is not due to an illness or disorder, I've just been freakin' stoked over the Shut-Ups video shoot from Sunday, and their upcoming, pivotal guest appearance as an intergalactic super-band in the Duck Dollas episode, "Werewolf in a Proctologist's Skin."

Currently, I've got the "good shots" trimmed out of 12 passes we made on the song, "Gotta Get Rid Of Myself." The track is from the Shut-Ups' latest album, Imaginary Dancer, described as "a song-by-song rebuttal to the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack." We purchased the Japanese Import at a recent Shut-Ups show in Decatur. I recommend YOU do the same.

Shut-Ups Video Shoot in Athens

From Sunday, October 18, 2009:

It's 7:43am and we're on our way to Athens to shoot the Shut-Ups' first music video. We departed at 7am, got gas at the Quicktrip and bought breakfast at McDonald's.

The shoot will begin at the Caledonia, which is in the location of the original 40 Watt Club. Heralded as the birthplace of modern alternative rock, Athens, Georgia has become known as the "Liverpool of the South." The B-52's made Athens their home, and it was the birthplace of another popular band called R.E.M.

The Shut-Ups will guest star in the new episode of Duck Dollas, "Werewolf in a Proctologist's Skin," to be shot this Saturday, October 24, 2009.

Plans for the Weekend, Week in Review

Friday at last, and boy am I ready to be off this weekend. Everybody has been really glum, this week. I suppose it's the cold, cloudy weather. Plus, everybody has had their fill of the rain. I welcome the cold, especially when the sun shines.

Saturday is looking like home improvement day. I hope to finish painting the trim in the front rooms, patch the trim in the back rooms and start putting new drywall up in the basement. Perhaps a couple of hours editing some video, too.

Sunday, I'm shooting a music video with the Shut-Ups. Should be a fun day. Then, the following Saturday is the final day of shooting for the Duck Dollas story, "Werewolf in a Proctologist's Skin," guest starring the Shut-Ups.

I don't have a comic today, so I'll share a video I found on YouTube.

Toys For Tots Summer Program

The Marine Toys for Tots Foundation is a 501 charity operated by the United States Marine Corps. Major Bill Hendricks founded the program in 1947, and its recognizable train logo was designed by the good people at Walt Disney Studios. Throughout October, November and December, the foundation collects unwrapped toys to be redistributed as Christmas gifts to needy children throughout the holiday season.

I propose a summer program, which will generate a lot more gifts, if targeted at the dirty old man, high school and college frat boy demographics. It's called Toys for Tits, and its goes something like this:

Granted, it is highly derivative of certain Mardi Gras traditions, however, if it works for beads, it can work for toys. We will begin accepting applications for toy collector positions in March, 2010.

How To Make a Romantic Comedy

So there I was, changing our posters on the store exterior, when I realized something... There's NO SUCH THING as a UNIQUE romantic comedy! Unless it's Danny Deckchair. Danny Deckchair was awesome! See it now!

Anyway, when I change out posters, I usually do them a segment at a time, just in case I get distracted. I was switching the posters for Ghosts Of Girlfriends Past for The Proposal, when suddenly I realized... I could make a romantic comedy myself!

How is this possible, you ask?

Simple... Just use the Syd Field paradigm for romantic comedy construction:

Take the two most newsworthy, interchangeable douche-bags of the week (as reported by Entertainment Tonight), and use the following ten step outline to write an awesome romantic comedy screenplay:

1. Douche is down and out.

2. Douche meets Douche (by chance).

3. Douche and Douche hit it off.

a. Things couldn't be better.

4. Douche annoys Douche (probably by communicating with ex-douche)

5. Douche leaves Douche.

6. Douche misses Douche.

7. Douche devises plan to win Douche back.

8. Douche generates lame-ass suspense by poorly executing plan to win Douche back.

9. Douche fails. Psyche! Douche wins!

10. Douches live happily ever after.

Yay! Now you're ready for Hollywood! Douches unite!

Hold Time for Group Prayer Two Years

I'm sure anyone who lives in the South recalls the drought we experienced two years ago. The watering bans, the bottled water, the dry lake beds. How could anybody forget taking a bath in one level cup of water...? What? You mean I'm the only one who did my part? C'mon... ;)

Anyhow, those of you who experienced it first hand will remember Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue's desperate attempt to bring us relief. If not, I will bring you up to speed: Governor Sonny Perdue organized a prayer group to conjure rain for the dry and dusty South.

At the time, it appeared that nobody was listening, and the South continue to thirst. That is, until now...

Based on our recent great quantities of rainfall, we can conclude with confidence that the hold time for group prayer is at least two years. So great job, Mr. Perdue. You did it! I will enjoy fishing this summer, thanks to you. More importantly, may I wash my freakin' car on Saturdays, again?

Be Cool, Don't Say "Retarded"

These days it's cool to refrain from hurting other people's feelings, especially if they have more challenges than you. For example, it's not nice to call someone who has less money than you poor. It is also unacceptable to make fun of a person who has no legs by calling them cripple. The same applies to our brothers and sisters who experience developmental challenges early in life. It is NO LONGER OKAY to call someone retarded.

Before they became accepted as insults, the words retard, retarded and mental retardation were used as technical terms to categorize other I.Q. related jargon like idiot, imbecile and moron. Over time, it became clear that I.Q. wasn't the only factor in a person's development, so the word retard and its derivatives were absorbed into broad-spectrum terms like developmental disability and cognitively challenged. These new, cooler-sounding terms not only make you sound really smart when you say them, they also make you appear to be compassionate and considerate of your fellow human beings and their challenges.

Going forward, let's all put forth the extra effort to build a warm and caring environment for all mankind. Let's face it, we're all in this together, so we've got to watch each other's backs. Don't call people retard. Don't break into people's houses. Don't steal from your job. Let's all just relax, watch "Lost" and stop acting cognitively challenged.

My Stupid Story

Howdy. Some of my readers have pointed out that yesterday's post, Ignorance vs. Stupidity, might be misunderstood, by some. Today I will share one of my own experiences with being stupid.

It was about two months ago. I was hungry when leaving work, so I stopped by the local Bojangles for a tasty Cajun chicken meal. Yum. Attached is a comic featuring my very own adventure in stupidity. Enjoy, and thank you for not misunderstanding.

Ignorance vs. Stupidity

Today, lunch ended up being a McDonald's McChicken sandwich, again, as I left the house without the AWESOME lunch prepared from food Mrs. Six Million cooked the night before. Mind you, I'm not down on McDonald's. I like McDonald's. Last year, I read an article which talked about McDonald's launching WiFi in select locations. Here is a short video I wrote and produced last year, inspired by the same article:

People sure are funny when they're shopping. For example, a diverse selection of product tends to boggle most shoppers, as well as promotional signage featuring the terms and conditions of particular offers. I ought to know, when I'm not at work, I'm a shopper. Believe me, I get confused, too! We are all susceptible to this phenomenon. Ignorance is the primary cause, defined as a "lack of knowledge or information." Stupidity comes in a close second, and is characterized by the lack of "intelligence or common sense." I have drawn two comics to clarify my interpretation of both conditions:

Hastily Composed Anti-Rebel Rant

Coffee sure is tasty, especially with a drop of half n' half... I wonder what whole n' whole would taste like?

Negativity in the work place really gets my goose. I roll my eyes and sigh with mild impatience each time I hear the defeatist rant, "Why should I bother to sell anything? It's not like I'll see any of that money!" Never mind that those sales contribute to the company being able to pay his hourly wage... But you go, you rebel! Stick it to the Man!

Perhaps I will post a new cartoon, tomorrow... I would have posted one, today, but had to stay at the shoppe for 13 hours, today. Meanwhile, for those of you who are new to my world, here is the first episode of Duck Dollas in the 21st Century, which I produced through my video label, Astounding Pictures.

You're Bad Grammar, Its Hurting My Brains

Each day I'm required to make a bank deposit on behalf of The Store. The Store does business with WalkOverYa, because they're huge and there's some subtle benefits, somewhere. The courteous drone welcomes me in their telltale, scripted fashion... Impersonal, even though they've seen me every day for a little under 5,000 years... Regardless, she asks if I'd like to open a personal account. I politely decline.

In true salesman fashion, she cordially refuses to take no for an answer. I explain to her that WalkOverYa hasn't been the same since they mated with First Onion, years ago. After one very special weekend where all of my debits were put through first, followed by my credits (with no regard to when they were actually submitted). I decided to take my business elsewhere.

"Bank O' Amerky?" she asks.

"Oh god, no!" I exclaim, proceeding to educate her on the perks of a smaller, less asinine organization.

She said she would never speak to me, again.

"That's fine," I said, at which point she appeared to be offended. I love that story.

In movie news, I've transmitted the "Werewolf" script to everybody involved. Shoot date still firmly in place for the 10/24/09, along with the Shut-Ups music video shoot on the 10/18/09.

Also giving thought to a series of "Marvel Essentials" style omnibus editions of the old Herbie Comix line from the eighties & nineties. Any old schoolers out there find this interesting? Would you purchase the book(s)...? Perhaps a line a sweet gear featuring the characters...?

Has anybody ordered a Slap Chop, yet? When one orders this nifty kitchen device, one will receive a Slap Chop cheese grater, free! It's called, the Gratey. The asking price is $19.95, and if I order now, I can get a second Slap Chop and Gratey for FREE. Can't think of what I'd use them for... Maybe it'd be funny to put a goldfish in it...? The pitchman says it cleans up easy, because it disassembles like a multistage rocket. Hmm...

Meanwhile, this indifferent filmmaker put the finishing touches on the script for Duck Dollas #11, "Werewolf in a Proctologist's Skin." This one will be pretty groovy, as the Shut-Ups will be guest-starring with Brandon, Byron and Stip.

After "Werewolf," we'll start working on Brandon's script for episode twelve. It's a spoof of Pet Sematary, and it's absolutely ridiculous. Just substitute Dr. Menard for the kid, and hijinks ensue. So that makes TWO back-to-back episodes in which we're ultra cruel to Dr. Menard. Fun! As added bonus, both shows will be presented to you, the viewer, using a relatively new technology called COLOUR. Honestly, I think it's just a fad. We'll see.

TIP OF THE DAY: Save money at home by using the bathroom at work. This practice cuts down on expenses around the house, like toilet paper and soap. Now you can afford that Astounding Pictures T-Shirt you've had your eye on.

Rod Stewart Resembles Rickety, Old Barry Manilow

While in the city, today, I stopped at Fellini's for a slice of White and a Coke®. The access to kick-ass eateries is one of the few things I miss about living in town. That, and always being reminded that the ITP crowd is always number one every time I watch the local news. I mean, how can one doubt one's superiority when the top stories from your town are, "Murder, murder, car-jacking, bank robbery and murder...?" Rape seems to be the only thing not talked about on the local news, daily. Of course, celebrity rape eclipses all other Earthly goings on, anywhere, as does most of the fecal matter that dribbles out of Hollywood on a most daily basis. Golly, I'd love to be paid to produce just a tiny piece of that well-received feces...

But I digress. Today is a special day, for I have completed a cheap and horribly crude animation test for Stipchise's RETAIL pilot, using pre-fab elements that came with my software. And no, you can't see it.

Gene Pool Contaminated by Trophy Wives, Fat Kids

My experiences in retail have revealed one thing to me: the United States REALLY needs REGULATED BREEDING, because the majority of stupid people are doing it with abandon.

I'd advocate an intelligence test, minimum monthly income requirements, minimum time at current employer... Essentially, obtaining a license to reproduce would be similar to qualifying for an apartment lease or a loan on a house or car.

SATIRICAL TV SPOT: Summoning the strength to walk down to the liquor store with that government assistance check can really run you down... Now that it's cashed , IT'S MILLER TIME!

By day, I'm a retail manager. By night, I'm a so-called independent filmmaker. This isn't because I'm some sort of trendy, guerilla expressionist, bucking the system by telling the stories I want to tell on MY TERMS... I just haven't been able to con anybody into paying me to do it, yet.
